Movies That Have Helped To Sell The Car
Over the years there have been many fantastic films that have featured some top quality vehicles. Out of these movies there have been some that have propelled the car into stardom and whether people have brought the vehicle via car and van contract hire or other means, the movie has made millions for the car manufacturers, here are just a few of those cars.
DeLorean DMC 12 – Back to the Future
Anyone will tell you that the DMC 12 is one of the most famous (if not the most famous) car to appear in a movie to date. Back to the Future has helped to make the vehicle become one of the most sought after cars of all time and eople from all over the world will pay a small fortune to get a DeLorean and will pay even more if it is customised in the same way that the car from the movie.
Not only will heads turn if you are driving around in one of these but people will be paying you just to sit inside the thing! 88 miles an hour!!!!
Aston Martin – James Bond
Aston Martin has been involved with James Bond since 1964 when the DB5 was introduced as the car that Mr Bond himself drove. Although the normal DB5 didn’t come with the same weapons that the car that Bond had, it was still something that resulted in a major boost in sales for Aston Martin. Since appearing in Goldfinger, an Aston Martin has been featured in seven other films including the two recent movies starring Daniel Craig.
Volkswagen Beetle –Herbie
Now you might not think that a car capable of throwing the driver out whenever it likes is something that is going to assist with sales. When you consider it is also capable of winning races and fighting crime then you might change your mind. Although the Beetle was a relatively successful car in its own right, The Love Bug helped to make the Beetle one of the most successful cars of the late 60s with over a million being sold each year by 1969 (also a record year for sales of the Beetle).
Over the years each film has resulted in a small surge of vehicles sold (even the awful one with Lindsay Lohan) and you can guarantee that a new film would do the same.
Mini- Italian Job
The Mini has been featured in many films over the past 50 or so years but the movie that people keep going back to when referencing the Mini from the cinema has to be The Italian Job. This gave the most success to the vehicle from a movie. The car hit 50 in 2009 and has gone on to become one of the greatest successes in British automotive history. Although The Italian Job didn’t make this happen, it sure helped with sales over a few years.
There have been many other movies that have helped to sell cars in the millions, can you think of any others, perhaps something that has assisted with other manufacturers like Renault and Honda jazz lease?
